Police in Surrey appeal for help in locating a sexual assault suspect

SURREY – Police in Surrey need the public’s help to identify a suspect after a female youth told police she was sexually assaulted at a Surrey park last weekend.

Surrey Police Service spokesperson Sgt. Ali Gailus says frontline officers responded to a report of a sexual assault in Bear Creek Park in Surrey on Sunday evening, Aug. 9 at about 8:11 p.m.

When police arrived, they spoke with a female victim who told them she was groped by an adult male and provided a description of the suspect who had left the area before officers arrived. Officers conducted extensive patrols of the park and surrounding areas but couldn’t locate the groper. Police say the victim was not physically injured.

SPS is now releasing images of the suspect in hopes that a member of the public may be able to identify the suspect. He is described as a South Asian male, who is approximately 5’8” tall. He was wearing a blue Adidas toque, black t-shirt, black pants and black flip flops (see attached photos).
