ABBOTSFORD – A self-described parking lot sensation turned fast-casual global restaurant chain is bringing its unique brand of heat to the Fraser Valley starting this week.

Dave’s Hot Chicken, a global sensation based on its phenomenal growth throughout the U.S. and internationally the past nine years, is slated to open Thursday, August 13 at 33344 South Fraser Way in Abbotsford.

There are already 17 Dave’s Hot Chicken locations across Canada, including five in Toronto, one in Vancouver, another in Victoria, B.C., and now in Abbotsford. Altogether, there are over 450 locations worldwide.

Dave’s Hot Chicken was launched in Los Angeles in 2017 by three childhood friends in their 20s who scraped together $900. The firm’s “not-so-grand” opening in 2017 happened in a parking lot in East Hollywood, with a couple of folding tables and a portable fryer beneath the night sky. After an online personality touted their food, the company’s food offerings went viral and the rest is history.

On their spicy scale, patrons can choose from no spice on one end of the spectrum all the way up to what the franchise calls “Reaper,” or very hot.

Dave’s combos feature two tenders with fries, two chicken sliders with fries and kale slaw, a tender and a slider with fries, and a slider with fries. Their sides consist of fries, cheese fries, mac and cheese, and kale slaw, just to name a few.
