ABBOTSFORD — A longtime Abby local is looking to retain his seat on the city’s school board this upcoming election.

SD34 School Trustee Mike Rauch was first elected four years ago, committing to prioritizing strong foundations for student success, planning for the city’s rapid growth, and transparent decision-making.

“Our schools play a vital role in shaping the future of our community,” said Rauch. “As Abbotsford continues to grow, we must ensure every student has the opportunities, support, and learning environment they need to succeed. Trustees have a responsibility to make thoughtful, evidence-based decisions that put students first.”

Rauch brings a background in mechanical engineering, business and aviation, including work as a CEO for a multi-million-dollar manufacturing company, FlexiForce. He says his experience as both a parent and a business leader has equipped him with the knowledge to prepare students for life after graduation.

“Like every parent, I want our schools to equip students not only for graduation, but for life. Every student should leave our school system with the knowledge, character, and confidence to pursue their goals and contribute in their unique way to their community.”

His first term saw Rauch advocate for expanded extracurriculars in arts and athletics, greater Board transparency and stronger parent engagement, as well as help shape the district’s four-year strategy with a larger emphasis on early learning, reading and numbers.

The Abbotsford resident of more than 30 years is looking to keep advocating for strong foundations, open communication, strategic planning and individualized learning.
