Police investigating shots fired outside Surrey business

SURREY — Surrey police are seeking more information about a shots-fired incident in Cloverdale mid-Thursday afternoon (May 21).

At roughly 2:24 p.m., officers were paged out to a report of gunshots near 58 Avenue and 176 Street.

Police say there were no reported injuries, but that “at least one” business had been damaged by the gunshots.

Another report then came in roughly 20 minutes later for a vehicle fire near 20 Avenue and 174 Street.

“The investigation is in its early stages and the motive for the shots fired is unknown,” said the Surrey Police Service. “It is not, however, believed to be extortion-related.”

Investigators are looking to see if there is any connection between the gunshots and the car fire.
