ABBOTSFORD — Officers from the Lower Mainland have recently teamed up to dismantle a drug lab in Abbotsford Thursday evening (May 21).

Residents reported seeing at least a dozen police cars in the area of Bradner Road, between McTavish and Marsh McCormick, at around 6:30 p.m.

CFSEU-BC has since released details saying the unit’s illegal firearms enforcement team executed a search warrant on a clandestine drug lab with help from Abbotsford police.

Investigators then found a “large cache” of illegal weapons on the property.

“We understand that operations of this nature can be concerning for residents and disruptive to the surrounding community,” said Sgt. Sarbjit K. Sangha, media relations officer for CFSEU-BC.

“The discovery and dismantling of a clandestine drug lab helps reduce the risks these dangerous operations pose to neighbourhoods, including exposure to hazardous substances, violence, and organized criminal activity.”

CFSEU-BC clarified that part of the large police presence was due to the clandestine laboratory enforcement team being called in to ensure the property was safe for investigators to come in.

“We appreciate the patience and cooperation of the community as investigators continue this important work to help keep our communities safe.”
