Agassiz RCMP assist after electric truck winds up in river, resolve separate road rage incident
AGASSIZ/HARRISON – Mounties with the Agassiz RCMP detachment dealt with several vehicles incidents this past week, including a submerged electric truck in a river, a road rage incident, and a rollover on Harrison East Forest Service Road.
Upper Fraser Valley RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says police responded to a report of a truck submerged in a waterway northeast of Agassiz. The incident happened Thursday morning, May 7. All occupants were able to safely exit the vehicle without injury. Kent Harrison Search and Rescue and RCMP personnel assisted in bringing the vehicle occupants to shore. The truck was later recovered and towed from the river. Corporal Kiener says the vehicle is fully electric and sustained “significant damage” from the water.
During the week of Monday, May 4 through to Sunday, May 10, RCMP members responded to a road rage incident in which a man followed another driver to a local business, where a confrontation escalated into a physical altercation. Police responded and spoke with both parties. After discussion with both parties, Corporal Kiener says both men acknowledged their behaviour was inappropriate, understood how the incident escalated, and were content with police intervention. No charges were pursued, and the parties agreed to move on from the situation peacefully.
Sometime this past week, officers responded to a single‑vehicle collision on the Harrison East Forest Service Road after a driver lost control of a truck, causing it to roll onto its side. Paramedics and firefighters also attended. Both occupants were able to exit the vehicle and did not sustain serious injuries. Corporal Kiener says alcohol was not a factor. Instead, poor tire tread and the use of cruise control on a gravel road are believed to have contributed to the collision.
