LANGLEY – Homicide investigators have been called to Langley after Mounties located a deceased woman inside a home on 87 Avenue in Langley over the weekend.

According to a statement from Integrated Homicide Investigation Team spokesperson Sgt. Freda Fong, Langley RCMP members attended a home in the 20800 block of 87 Avenue on Saturday afternoon, May 9, at about 2:44 p.m. Officers from the Langley RCMP as well as first responders with BC Emergency Heath Services (BC EHS) attended the residence and located a 24-year-old woman deceased.

Based on initial observations at the scene, a 29-year-old man was taken into custody by members of the Langley RCMP.

IHIT Investigators have been liaising with the Langley RCMP, the BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to advance the investigation.

The woman and the man were in a relationship, and IHIT investigators are examining the evidence to determine whether criminality is a factor.

“While this investigation is in its preliminary stages, investigators believe this was an isolated incident,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “We are working to establish a timeline and the circumstances leading up to the woman’s death. IHIT would like to offer our condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the woman.”
