CHILLIWACK — Mounties have stopped over a dozen speeding drivers in a Chilliwack-area community earlier this week.

On Wednesday (May 6), local traffic officers with the Upper Fraser Valley RCMP spent “several hours” of enforcement in Yarrow and recorded 15 vehicles caught travelling at speeds of at least 80 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

Police say one driver, who was “frustrated” with highway traffic, thought going through the community would be faster. The Honda was clocked driving at 108 km/h in the area.

“What they failed to realize was that highway speeds don’t belong on residential and rural roads,” said UFVRD RCMP. “Speed limits exist to protect the people who live, walk, bike, and drive in our communities. Slow down and help keep everyone safe.”
