COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY — A Mission father and son have had to find another way home after their vehicle was caught speeding on the Coquihalla Highway last week.

On April 10, just before 7 p.m., a BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) officer saw a northbound lifted pickup truck travelling faster than other traffic on Highway 5, just south of Kamloops.

“This pickup was hard to miss, with its lifted suspension and a laser radar reading of 208 km/h in a 120 zone,” said Corporal Michael McLaughlin with (BCHP). “No vehicles are safe at those speeds on public roads, but a heavy truck that is high off the ground is even more unstable than other traffic.”

The Dodge driver, who was travelling with his young child, then told police he was testing his engine, which BCHP said was not an excuse.
