Run for Hope returns to raise funds for eye care at Fraser Canyon Hospital
HOPE — The Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF) is back with its annual running fundraiser for patients in Hope and nearby communities.
On May 2, the five-kilometre run-and-walk loop will begin at the Fraser Canyon Hospital before moving along the Coquihalla River and through Thacker Park, then back.
This year’s event is set to raise funds to buy an iCare IC200 Tonometer for the hospital– a medical ophthalmic device used to measure pressure inside the eye.
The device uses a small, lightweight probe to quickly and painlessly touch the cornea and rebound back. Eye pressure can then be calculated from that rebound pattern, which health care providers use to detect and monitor glaucoma and other eye conditions.
