[VIDEO] Firefighters, wildlife rescuers untangle two bald eagles from power line in Surrey neighbourhood
SURREY — Local agencies have spent their Easter safely untangling two birds from a neighbourhood powerline this Sunday (April 5).
The two bald eagles were fighting with each other when they landed on a power line near the intersection of 85 Avenue and 123 Street.
Bald eagles are known to lock talons when mating or fighting, and the Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society (OWL) had to work with Surrey Firefighters and BC Hydro to rescue the birds and safely pull them apart.
“Luckily, they suffered no serious injuries and were able to fly off immediately,” said the rescue. “This time of year, they are fighting to protect their nests or their young, and this was the best possible outcome for them to go back to their respective babies.”
