CHILLIWACK — Local fans of one romantic TV show on Netflix might find themselves falling back in love with their city as the streaming giant highlights Chilliwack’s role in the production.

Virgin River is a series based on the New York Times-bestselling Harlequin books by Robyn Carr, and it centers on a nurse practitioner who moves to a remote California town, hoping to start a new life.

In the eighth episode of its latest season, lead characters Mel and Jack attend a fictional rodeo in the area, but the venue featured in said rodeo?

It’s Chilliwack Heritage Park.

Netflix says the 65-acre event and recreation facility’s “massive red-barn-style building” makes it the “perfect setting” for the town’s 45th Trinity County Rodeo.

Anyone looking to visit and explore is encouraged to check out the Local Harvest, play a round at Cheam Mountain Golf Course, and eat at Ma Baker’s Food Truck.

The Netflix map page also suggests coming down in early August to visit the Chilliwack Fair for a “a classic local experience” with farm exhibits, live entertainment and fair food.

Fraser Valley has been a hotspot for filming locations recently, with Happy Gilmore star Adam Sandler being spotted staying at a Chilliwack hotel as he filmed Time Out in Hope on Thursday (Apr. 2).
