AbbyPD seeks public feedback on police response to service complaints
ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford Police Department is seeking residents’ input on a draft policy regarding public complaints about how the agency runs itself.
AbbyPD’s Board Governance and Policy Committee has drafted a policy that specifically outlines how police respond to service, policy or conduct complaints in accordance with Part 11 of the Police Act.
The policy, available on AbbyPD’s website, outlines steps such as investigating the complaint, communicating with the complainant about the board’s intended course of action, and seeking updates from the assigned person or body on the investigation’s status.
Public consultation will be open for two weeks before the policy is presented for approval.
