Hope RCMP dealing with speeding and impaired drivers
HOPE — Hope RCMP were kept busy with driving infractions last week, which led to a number of vehicles being impounded.
But the wet weather didn’t slow one woman who was clocked doing 150 km/h along Highway 1. Police stopped the vehicle to conduct a roadside check. When asked to step out of the vehicle, the driver initially refused. Instead, they stated that they could be held in a police jail for seven days, the same number of days their car was being impounded for. Eventually, the woman changed her mind and arranged for alternative transportation.
Hope RCMP also impounded other vehicles last week. They responded to a call along Flood Hope Road and found the vehicle behind the complaint. Police say the driver failed a roadside test. He was issued an immediate roadside prohibition and taken into custody for outstanding warrants.
And after speeding down 6th Avenue in Hope, a driver was pulled over. Police spotted open alcohol in his vehicle. He failed a breath test and was issued an immediate roadside prohibition. His vehicle was also impounded.
