Harrison Tulip Festival blooms for second year in Agassiz

AGASSIZ — B.C.’s original tulip festival founders are marking their 20th year of blooms back in Agassiz.

The Harrison Tulip Festival is set to return this April with more than 14 million spring flowers and 150 types of tulips planted across 45 acres – the largest event of its kind in Canada.

Visitors are invited to attend the food trucks and live music, as well as yoga and bouquet-making programs available at the site.

The Onos family, whose greenhouses supply roughly 85 per cent of the cut tulips sold across Western Canada, kick-started the original festival in Agassiz in 2006 before operating in Chilliwack in 2017.

In 2024, the festival returned to its origins as the Harrison Tulip Festival.

“The celebration is marking the milestone in full bloom, with exciting new programming and fresh experiences designed to make this anniversary year their biggest and most memorable yet,” wrote the Festival.

From April 16 to April 25, the site will be running until 10 p.m. for its first Night Garden, a four-acre landscape lit up with lanterns and other twinkling lights for guests to stroll and take photos.

The festival is located at 5039 Lougheed Highway in Agassiz.

Its exact opening date is based on bloom conditions and has yet to be determined.
