SURREY — Transit police had been chasing an enforcement dragon at the Surrey Central Station over the past three months, leading to dozens of arrests and a garden variety of drugs being seized.

On November 22, 2025, the RCMP, the Surrey Police Service and CFSEU-BC tackled crime and safety concerns at the station and adjacent businesses, including the Central City complex, as part of a Metro Vancouver Transit Police-led project.

Efforts yielded 61 arrests ranging from outstanding warrants and weapons possession to drug trafficking and traffic violations. The following items were seized:

  • 18 weapons, including 12 knives and five bear spray cans
  • 258 grams of fentanyl, 38 grams of methamphetamine, 42 grams of cocaine, 298 pills of hydromorphone and 178 oxycontin pills
  • $9,400 CAD, believed to be the proceeds of crime

Roughly $2,000 in stolen merchandise had also been recovered.

“Surrey Central Station is a busy transit hub,” said Constable Sunny Kainth with transit police.

“SkyTrain and bus passengers deserve to feel safe without concern about being exposed to weapons, drugs, or the violence that can sometimes accompany them. It’s Transit Police’s aim that anyone who brings these items to transit be arrested and held accountable.”

The project was made possible through Provincial Special Investigation and Targeted Enforcement (SITE) funding, helping the transit police focus resources using intelligence reports and crime data.
