High streamflow advisory issued for Lower Fraser ahead of rainy week
CHILLIWACK — The BC River Forecast Centre is issuing caution on river levels ahead of forecast rain in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley for most of the upcoming week.
A high streamflow advisory is in place for the Lower Fraser and its tributaries along the Fraser Valley.
A strong atmospheric river is set to impact B.C.’s south coast starting mid-day on Sunday, bringing between 60 and 120 millimetres of rain to the region.
Flows are expected to rise locally due to both heavy rainfall and rain-on-snow runoff. Peak levels are possible early to mid-next week, depending on the system’s timing and intensity.
