ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford say two men have been arrested after they allegedly robbed an Abbotsford bank on Sumas Way in early February.

Abbotsford PD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker told Fraser Vallley Today via email that AbbyPD patrol officers were called to the 2100 block of Sumas Way on Friday, Feb. 6 at approximately 5:23 p.m. A man entered the bank, demanded money and fled in a getaway truck after getting cash.

No injuries were reported as a result of the robbery.

AbbyPD’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) immediately assumed conduct of the investigation. Over the following weeks, detectives collected additional evidence, which led them across the Lower Mainland and helped identify two suspects.

On Tuesday, March 10, MCU detectives arrested two men in connection with the robbery. A search warrant was also executed at a residence in the 44000 block of Malcolm Road in Lake Errock.

Sgt. Walker says robbery charges have now been approved against 54-year-old Gordon Slater and 57- year-old Brian Knutson, with an additional disguise with intent charge approved against Gordon Slater.
