Chilliwack RCMP nab speed demon clocked at nearly 3x the speed limit on country road
CHILLIWACK — A Fraser Valley motorist is facing fines and a steep spike in driver premiums after being clocked at nearly three times the speed limit on a country road in Chilliwack.
And while it’s not uncommon for motorists to speed on this stretch of road south of Highway 1 in Chilliwack, police say speeding like this puts lives at risk, among other things.
One of the Chilliwack RCMP’s officers recently stopped a vehicle traveling at over 170 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone on Prairie Central Road.
Police say the driver had their vehicle impounded for 7 days and was issued a ticket for $483.
