Construction worker suffers serious injury at Langley Events Centre
LANGLEY – The mayor of Langley Township says a construction safety incident at the Langley Events Centre Monday morning (March 2) has left one worker with a fractured leg.
According to a social media statement from Langley Township Mayor Eric Woodward, a construction worker fell down a ventilation shaft on the outside of the building and sustained a broken leg within a confined space, but was conscious and communicating while he was rescued.
Woodward says the construction worker was extracted in less than an hour and transported to hospital by B.C. Ambulance Service paramedics.
“This once again highlights the great work of our first responders, and the value of the technical training and equipment needed to address so many unique situations such as this one at a moment’s notice,” Mayor Woodward said. “Thanks to all that completed a successful rescue that could have been much worse.”
