District of Hope urges people not to travel on the Coquihalla Highway if possible
HOPE – Environment Canada says a wind advisory is in effect for the Hope area today as a storm brings gale-force winds to the eastern Fraser Valley and heavy snow on the Coquihalla through to Friday.
The wind advisory from Environment Canada says gusts of up to 90 km/h are expected today. Power outages could occur.
Winds should ease late this evening.
In a related advisory, the District of Hope is asking people to consider delaying their travel plans amid projected accumulations of 20-30 centimetres of snow on the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt through to Friday.
