Heavy snow forecast for the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt: Environment Canada
COQUIHALLA — Heavy snow and strong winds have prompted warnings from Environment Canada for several parts of British Columbia.
The forecaster has issued a snow squall warning expected Thursday for both the North and South Peace Regions bringing intense snow combined with strong winds, making visibility near zero at times.
It says high winds are expected in the central and southern Interior where a strong, low-pressure system will bring gusts reaching up to 80 and 90 km/h into Thursday.
A long period of snow will fall on the northern Columbia and Kinbasket regions, where 30 to 50 cm is expected before it tapers Thursday night.
