COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY – A heads up for drivers traveling between B.C.’s southern interior and the coast on Monday (Feb. 23).

Environment Canada says a snowfall warning is in effect for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt until Monday afternoon.

Around 15 to 20 centimetres of snowfall is expected for the stretch of Highway 5. It’s due to a convective system that will bring periods of snow to the area throughout the day.

“Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” Environment Canada states. “Visibility will likely be reduced at times. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly, resulting in hazardous driving conditions.”
