Chilliwack breaks ground on new 28,500-square-foot sports centre annex
CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack is keeping its eye on the pickleball – and other recreational activities – with the construction of a new facility next to the Landing Sports Centre.
A 28,500-square-foot multi-use structure has broken ground for the Landing Sports Centre Annex– roughly 4,000 square feet wider than the current rec centre.
“We are grateful to the Federal Government, the Province of BC, and the Chilliwack Pickleball Club for their investment in the new Landing Sports Centre Annex,” said Mayor Ken Popove. “To see the need for an expansion of a well-used community amenity is positive news for a healthy, thriving community like ours.”
Funding for the project was approved in the City’s 2025 budget plan, along with a $1.85 million federal Community Building fund, a $4.7 million B.C. Growing Communities fund and a donation of $100,000 from the Chilliwack Pickleball Club.
