Two children struck in intersection near Sandy Hill Elementary

ABBOTSFORD — First responders were on scene of a pedestrian collision near Sandy Hill Elementary School this afternoon.

At 2:54 p.m. Friday, January 16, Abbotsford police responded to a call from the Fire Rescue Service regarding a collision at Old Clayburn Road and Sandy Hill Road involving two pedestrians.

BCEHS says one ambulance with primary care paramedics and an advanced care paramedic response unit attended the scene.

“The pedestrians that were hit were kids crossing in a crosswalk,” Sgt. Paul Walker told Fraser Valley Today.

The driver remained and is cooperating with police.

Paramedics provided emergency medical care to one kid with non-life-threatening injuries who was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Patrol officers are still on scene to continue investigating the events leading up to the collision.
