Coquihalla Highway vehicle incident

Rollover brings Coq Highway traffic to a halt south of Merritt Thursday afternoon

COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY — A motor vehicle incident impacted northbound Coquihalla Highway traffic just south of Merritt Thursday afternoon, but traffic is moving again.

While DriveBC did not report anything online, a Facebook user named Jimmy Darbyshire posted at 3:01 p.m. that a flipped vehicle in the northbound lane coming into Merritt brought traffic to a halt.

“Using the jaws of life. No cars are getting through,” Darbyshire wrote at 3:01 p.m.

The PulsePoint app indicates that Merritt-area paramedics were notified about the incident near Coldwater Road at 2:25 p.m. One ambulance arrived to transport a patient, or patients.

As of 3:38 p.m., traffic is now moving, according to a Facebook user in the Coquihalla Road Reports group.

As of 3:40 p.m., Darbyshire said, “All cleared. No black ice, roads are dry as can be. Drive safe everyone.”
