SURREY — A spokesperson for the BC Highway Patrol says motorists can expect delays on Highway 1 eastbound in Surrey after a commercial truck struck an overpass Wednesday morning.

According to a statement from BCHP spokesperson Corporal Michael McLaughlin, the 192 Street overpass has been visibly damaged, and police are working with the Ministry of Transportation and Transit to ensure the roadway is safe.

Corporal McLaughlin says BCHP officers were notified about the incident just before 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning by motorists who witnessed the overpass strike. Witnesses told police that a commercial truck hit the overpass while towing an excavator on a flatdeck trailer.
