Pedestrian dies in Mission after being fatally struck: RCMP

MISSION — A B.C. RCMP spokesperson has confirmed the death of a pedestrian following a motor vehicle incident Saturday evening in Mission.

According to a statement to B.C. RCMP spokesperson Corporal Brett Urano, based out of.E Division in Surrey, Mounties in Mission were called to a vehicular incident involving a male pedestrian on Lougheed Highway on Saturday evening, January 10 at 7 p.m.

Corporal Urano says the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The BC RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been deployed and is assisting with the investigation. As a result, Lougheed Highway is currently closed between Grand Street and Wardrop Street while officers complete their work.

The investigation is in progress to determine the exact cause of the incident. Driver impairment has been ruled out as a possible cause.
