Police deem no risk to public after reports of man with weapon in Nowell Street

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack residents may have seen a number of police cars around a section of Nowell Street this morning as RCMP responded to what appeared to be a man carrying a weapon.

Witnesses reported eight RCMP vehicles outside 8905 Nowell Street at about 7 a.m. Friday, January 9.

RCMP told Fraser Valley Today that officers attended immediately, but the individual had already left the area before police arrived.

The man had still not been found despite extensive patrols.
