Vehicle incident halts traffic on Coquihalla Highway north of Merritt

UPDATE at 1:40 p.m. — DriveBC reports the Coquihalla Highway between Kamloops and Merritt has been reopened.

MERRITT — Drivers heading from Merritt to Kamloops are being asked to travel on Highway 5A for the time being.

DriveBC first reported of a vehicle incident closing all the northbound lanes of the Coquihalla Highway north of the City of Merritt at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 24).

Drivers are told to expect major delays. Another update is due at 12:30 p.m. Residents can check on the status of the stretch of Highway 5 at DriveBC.
