CHILLIWACK — The atmospheric river that delivered heavy rainfall across the Fraser Valley Wednesday (Dec. 10), soaked stunning rainfall amounts, especially in the eastern sections of the region.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada preliminary storm totals show the measuring station at the Hope Airport reported totals between 140 and 145 mm of rain over the course of the day.

Cultus Lake saw 125 millimetres, the Chilliwack Airport reported 110 millimetres and Agassiz saw 103 mm of rainfall.

Atmospheric rivers are long, narrow bands of concentrated moisture that can deliver large amounts of rain in a short period.
