B.C. govt. confirms extensive damage to Crowsnest Hwy. between Hope and Manning Park
CROWSNEST HIGHWAY — The B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Transit has confirmed extensive damage along the Crowsnest Highway (Highway 3) between Hope and Manning Park as a result of this week’s extreme precipitation events.
In a brief statement issued Thursday (Dec. 11), the ministry says its operational team, contractors, and engineering consultants have completed a full ground assessment of Highway 3 and are now advising the public about what they’re describing as “extensive damage” between Hope and Manning Park.
The ministry says there are approximately 23 damaged sites consisting of rockfall, roadway debris, shoulder undermining, exposed or blocked culverts, and areas of ponding water.
There is no estimated time of reopening at this point.
