CHILLIWACK — It’s not the kind of Christmas present the Chilliwack real estate industry was hoping for this holiday season. According to the latest information from the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board (CADREB), home sales in the region fell sharply in November. It says the number of homes for sale has grown to the highest level in more than a decade.

In a news release, CADREB says 165 homes were sold last month, representing a drop of 13.2 per cent from November 2024. Sales figures are well off historical norms, sitting 13.1 per cent under the five-year average and a whopping 28.2 per cent below the 10-year average for November. Through the first 11 months of the year, 2,185 homes have been sold, down 16.1 per cent from the same period in 2024.

“Our sales totals will likely come in well below last year’s annual levels as tariff chaos and economic uncertainty sidelined buyers and resulted in a weaker than expected spring market in 2025,” said CADREB President, Emily Vernon.

The number of residential homes-for-sale reached 1,166 at the end of November, including 283 new listings over the month. The figure is 16.1 per cent higher than it was at the end of November in 2024 and more than 35 per cent higher than the 10-year average.
