Environment Canada issues rainfall warning for Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Hope
CHILLIWACK — Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Hope before a strong storm arrives later this evening.
The national weather agency says both cities could receive rainfall amounts of 60-80 mm. Rain is expected to start later tonight and continue through Wednesday evening.
Environment Canada projects heavy rain in the Fraser Valley, Manning Park, Skagit Valley, and Highway 3 near the Sunshine Valley, southeast of Hope.
The rainfall warning says an “atmospheric river” will arrive on the south coast of B.C. bringing heavy rain tonight through Wednesday. Warm air from the system will cause freezing levels to rise. Snowmelt combined with the rain may result in high streamflows and localized flooding.
