Wind warning in effect for the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt, Crowsnest east of Hope

COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY/CROWSNEST HIGHWAY — Fraser Valley motorists who might be traveling to B.C.’s Interior could get a good jolt of wind on two major highways later today and into Monday night.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning amid strong southwesterly winds with gusts of up to 80 km/h expected later today and into the evening.

The affected areas include the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt, as well as the Crowsnest Highway between Hope and Princeton.

The national weather agency says a strong Pacific frontal system will advance through the interior region bringing gusty southwesterly winds today and tonight.
