CHILLIWACK — Mounties in Mission are investigating after a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck allegedly stolen from Chilliwack in late November wound up on remote forest service road in Mission as the driver tried to evade police.

According to a statement from Mission RCMP, a caller contacted police on Saturday afternoon, November 29 to report that a person he believed was evading police was currently driving a Toyota Tacoma in Mission.

Police in Mission observed the truck as it was driving along Dewdney Trunk Road, but briefly lost sight of the vehicle. Police were able to confirm it had been stolen in Chilliwack only hours earlier.

Mission RCMP say officers patrolled the area where the truck was last seen and located it again as it was speeding up Burma Forest Service Road. Approximately 13 kilometres up the gravel road, the truck stopped and the two occupants bolted from the scene and into the bush.
