MISSION — A spokesperson for the Mission RCMP detachment says an 8-year-old boy was transported to hospital after being struck by a passing car last week.

According to a statement from Mission RCMP spokesperson Corporal Harrison Mohr, first responders in Mission were called to Egglestone Avenue east of Cedar Street last Thursday, Dec. 5, at about 5 p.m., where a boy riding a non-electric kick scooter collided with a car.

Corporal Mohr says two children had been riding their scooters in a driveway when one of the children, an 8-year-old boy, reportedly rode out into the street and was struck by a passing car. The boy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, but fortunately was not seriously injured, Cpl. Mohr said.

The boy was transported by ambulance to hospital for relatively minor injuries and further assessment. The investigation by Mission RCMP revealed no fault by the driver of the car.
