Truck in a ditch blocks 1 lane of Hwy. 1 traffic in Abbotsford Thursday AM

ABBOTSFORD — A vehicle incident involving a tractor-trailer has slowed westbound Highway 1 east of Whatcom Road.

DriveBC posted in the past half hour that a tractor-trailer in the centre median ditch has impacted motorists traveling between Chilliwack and Abbotsford.

Crews now on scene with the left lane blocked. Expect delays through the area.

Drive BC’s last update was 8:09 a.m.

A motorist on Facebook says Hwy. 1 westbound is at a crawl due to the accident just before Whatcom Road. Traffic is backed up all the way close to No. 3 Road. Another motorist using Facebook said westbound was a nightmare this morning all the way to the Port Mann Bridge, with her commute taking over two hours from the Mount Lehman exit (exit. 83) to the New Westminster exit.

As of 8:30 a.m., Google Maps depicted heavy traffic backed up for several kilometres west of No. 3 Road (exit 104) between Chilliwack and Abbotsford.
