Police looking to ID person of interest in violent home invasion: RCMP

MISSION — Mounties in Mission are looking to identify a person of interest in connection with a violent home invasion in Mission earlier this month.

According to a statement from Mission RCMP spokesperson Constable Paul Gill, who is assigned to the agency’s Serious Crime Unit, police were called to a reported home invasion at a Mission home on Thursday, Nov. 13 at about 1:30 a.m.

Police say suspects entered the home and assaulted the occupants. The victims were pepper sprayed, and one individual was struck with a crowbar.

Constable Gill says one of the suspects sustained substantial injuries during the physical altercation with the homeowner and fled the scene stealing a number of long guns.

At approximately 2 a.m. that same morning, a local hospital told authorities that a male with suspicious injuries had been dropped off by a Dodge Caravan. Police located and attempted to stop the vehicle in Abbotsford, which fled at a high rate of speed. It was later located unoccupied, and police were unable to locate the occupants of the Caravan.

The suspect from the hospital was arrested and remains in custody on unrelated charges. Two suspects remain outstanding.

The Mission RCMP Serious Crime Unit is presently investigating to see if this was a targeted incident.

Investigators are asking residents and businesses in the area of Whidden Avenue and surrounding neighborhoods to review any home security or surveillance footage between midnight. and 2 a.m.. on November 13 for suspicious activity or pedestrians.
