Time running out to file claim in Loblaw/Weston packaged bread class action settlement

CHILLIWACK — There are just over two weeks left until the deadline approaches in a nationwide class action lawsuit alleging industry-wide price fixing of packaged bread sold at Loblaw-related companies in Canada.

The claims process remains open until Dec. 12 for eligible Canadian residents who purchased packaged bread for their personal use between 2001 and 2021 to claim compensation from the national settlement reached with Loblaw Companies Ltd., and George Weston, to settle their involvement in national lawsuits related to alleged price fixing of packaged bread.

The amount of compensation an approved claimant will receive will naturally depend on the net settlement funds available to distribute, the number of claims that are approved by the settlement administrator, and whether or not an approved claimant previously received a $25 Loblaw card from the Loblaw Card Program.

People who participated in the Loblaw card program for a previous class action settlement can still submit a claim for compensation under the current settlement. The current settlement disclosure says eligible claimants will be entitled to the amount by which the additional settlement compensation exceeds the $25 Loblaw card benefit previously received and only if that additional settlement compensation amount is $5 or more.
