Abbotsford Police investigating targeted shooting involving 2 cars hit by gunfire, linked to extortion

ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford say two unoccupied vehicles were struck by gunfire in a driveway in a targeted incident linked to ongoing extortion schemes.

According to a statement from AbbyPD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker, AbbyPD patrol officers responded at 3:43 a.m. to reports of shots fired in the 2500 block of Janzen Street. When officers arrived in the area, they located two vehicles in a residential driveway that were hit by gunfire.

No injuries have been reported.

“Thankfully, the occupants inside the home—who were asleep at the time—were unharmed,” Sgt. Walker said.

The Abbotsford Police Department has since confirmed that this is a targeted incident related to an ongoing extortion investigation, Sgt. Walker said.

As a result, investigators are seeking assistance from the public. Anyone who was in the area of Janzen Street or nearby between 3:15 a.m. and 4 a.m. and may have witnessed suspicious activity or captured dashcam footage, is urged to contact the AbbyPD at 604- 859-5225.
