CHILLIWACK — Townhall Chilliwack, a modern pub which opened in May 2018 at 6640 Vedder Road in Sardis, may have served its last meal.

A note appeared outside the Vedder Road restaurant on Sunday in Chilliwack signalling its likely closure.

“Due to low product and it being our final day open, we have decided to close the doors at 2 p.m. today,” the note stated. “Thank you Chilliwack for your support over the years, we will forever be thankful & will miss all of you. Townhall Chilliwack.”

That same note was not present outside the store late Friday afternoon when it was busy during dinner hours.

The restaurant’s website no longer featured menu offerings or hours. Instead, it had a 404 website error.

Its phone number of 604-846-1005 has been disconnected. Its Google listing says the business is permanently closed.

At the time of its opening in 2018, Townhall Chilliwack was the eighth branded Townhall and the 21st restaurant under the umbrella of the Surrey-based restaurant group. According to a profile on the Restobiz website, JRG CEO Ryan Moreno said Chilliwack’s rapid population growth as an ideal place for the restaurant group to expand amid its 2018 opening.

On its website, Townhall positioned itself as a classic pub fare with a modern twist, offering a contemporary atmosphere and a warm welcome at the door. It served burgers, fish and chips, pizza, appies and dessert.

Fraser Valley Today has reached out to the Joseph Richard Group for more information on the restaurant’s likely closure.
