CHILLIWACK — An online fundraiser has been launched to support the family of one of two young men who tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle crash on Chadsey Road last week in Chilliwack.

Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Alexandra Mulvihill said a single-vehicle rollover in the 6000 block of Chadsey Road claimed the life of two young men ages 20 and 18 from the Okanagan region.

According to the text of an online financial appeal, Kӧen (last name unknown) lived his life to the fullest and was taken far too soon on Monday (Nov. 10) in a tragic car accident.

“He was a loving son, a devoted brother, and a friend to everyone who crossed his path,” said the GoFundMe, which was started by co-organizers Tara Peach and Michelle Dyson from Kelowna. “Kӧen’s kindness, energy, and love for life were unforgettable. His passion for soccer, his huge heart, his dance moves, and the way he lit up every room will be remembered forever. So many people called him their best friend, which is a true testament to the impact he made and how deeply he was loved.”

The GoFundMe went on to say the tragedy has broken the hearts of his family, girlfriend, teammates, coaches, coworkers and “truly anyone who ever crossed paths with him.”

“And the bond he shared with his mom was something incredibly special, a friendship, a deep and fierce love, a connection that anyone who saw them together could feel,” the appeal said. “Kӧen never missed a chance to show her how much he loved her: the tight hugs, flowers, the kiss on the head, walking her to the door or her car he always made sure she felt it. No mother should ever have to endure the loss of a child. As Heather (Kӧen’s mom) and her family face the unimaginable, we are coming together to support them with love, compassion, and whatever help we can offer.”

Like many online appeals involving loved ones who have passed, all donated funds will directly aid the family with expenses like taking time away from work, meals, household needs and other necessities involved in honouring Kӧen’s memory – and help pay it forward for his mom who was known for her generosity.

“If you know Heather, you know she is always the first to show up for others, no matter what to lend a hand, an ear, or whatever support is needed. She is the most amazing friend and a devoted mother to all her kids,” the appeal said. “Now, in her darkest moment, we hope to show up for her. Any contribution, big or small, is deeply appreciated and will help carry this family through the unthinkable.”
