LANGLEY — Mounties in Langley responded to a two-vehicle hit and run crash involving an unmarked Abbotsford Police Department vehicle Friday night.

According to a statement from B.C. RCMP spokesperson Corporal Brett Urano, Langley RCMP members were called to the area of the 5200 block of 264 Street in Langley at about 7:22 p.m. Friday evening (Nov. 14).

Cpl. Urano says an on-duty Abbotsford PD officer was driving in the area when the officer experienced a collision with a white GMC Canyon pickup truck. The two occupants of the pickup truck fled on foot from the scene after the crash.

Officers from both the Langley RCMP and Abbotsford Police Department attended the collision to assist to the officer who was injured. The officer sustained minor injuries and is expected to be released from hospital shortly. Police are still attempting to locate and identify the people involved in the crash to make sure they’re okay.

“The Langley RCMP is leading the investigation and have enlisted the assistance of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), to assist in determining the cause of the collision,” says Cpl. Brett Urano. “We are requesting anyone who may have been driving in the area with dash cam footage or had witnessed the crash or know who was in the vehicle but have not yet spoken to police to call the Langley RCMP. The investigation is in its infancy and on going.”

Langley RCMP members are expressing thanks to all first responders who attended the collision and have assisted thus far in the preliminary investigation. Additionally, the area around 264 Street and Highway 1 will have major delays due to road closures for the investigation.
