Abbotsford Canucks sign two defencemen after 10 winless games, several injured players
ABBOTSFORD — This year’s Calder Cup champions are facing off against San Jose with two much-needed players after going winless for nearly a month.
The Abbotsford Canucks are on a franchise record 10-game losing streak, in part due to a roster leaking out onto injured reserve.
Players like Jett Woo and Guillaume Brisebois are both still out of commission. Netminders Nikita Tolopilo and Ty Young have also gotten hurt, while Jiri Patera had been called up to play with the Vancouver Canucks as their emergency goalie, leaving Abbotsford with a goaltender-shaped void now filled by AHL rookie Jonathan Lemieux.
General Manager Ryan Johnson has since announced two new defence additions to the team.
