Remembrance Day ceremonies to be held in Chilliwack, throughout the Fraser Valley

CHILLIWACK — Residents in Chilliwack and across the Fraser Valley will have ample opportunities to pay their respects and remember the brave Canadian soldiers who gave their lives to serve their county during Remembrance Day ceremonies on Tuesday.

There will be two opportunities in Chilliwack for residents to participate in Remembrance Day. The first of two services will start at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Hall (9291 Corbould Street). The procession will begin at 10:30 a.m. from Evergreen Hall; the ceremony will immediately follow at Veterans Memorial Park at 45820 Spadina Avenue.

The City of Chilliwack notes on its website there will be road closures near the downtown cenotaph.

Over in Sardis, the procession will begin at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 295 (5661 Vedder Road) at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony immediately follows at All Sappers Memorial Park (5771 Vedder Road).

Abbotsford’s Remembrance Day activities start with a parade at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Garden Street and Simon Street, followed by a ceremony at 10:45 a.m. Royal Canadian Legion members will take part alongside youth cadet members. The location is Thunderbird Memorial Square on Veterans Way (adjacent to Abbotsford City Hall). The City of Abbotsford plans to livestream the ceremony through its YouTube channel starting at 10 a.m.

Similar ceremonies will be held in Hope at Memorial Park. Its ceremony commences at 10:30 a.m. where the Colour Party will march from the Legion Hall at 344 Fort Street to the cenotaph. The parade will feature Hope Cadets, Hope RCMP and the Hope Fire Department. A full service follows at the cenotaph in Memorial Park (3rd Avenue between Wallace Street and the District Hall).

Agassiz’s activities begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32, 1846 Agassiz-Rosedale Highway.
