B.C. RCMP confirm fatal crash on the Coquihalla

COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY — Mounties in B.C. have confirmed the death of a Kamloops driver following a two-vehicle rollover collision on southbound Highway 5 north of Merritt earlier today.

According to a statement from B.C. RCMP spokesperson Corporal Brett Urano, frontline officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on the Coquihalla Highway at about 7:45 a.m. Monday morning, Nov. 10. A Honda Accord was travelling southbound on Hwy. 5 and rear-ended a semi-truck.

The semi-trailer had been travelling in the slow lane when it was struck.

RCMP, Merritt Fire Rescue and BC Emergency Health Services all responded. Merritt Fire Rescue extracted the lone occupant of the Honda. Despite lifesaving efforts by first responders, a Kamloops man, was declared deceased at the incident. The semi-truck driver was uninjured and is cooperating with the investigation.
