Abbotsford Police race to home to arrest man wanted for warrant after he becomes combative
ABBOTSFORD — Multiple Abbotsford Police officers raced to a home just off McCallum Road and Hwy. 1 Monday night (Nov. 3) after a man wanted for a warrant allegedly became combative, prompting officers to deploy pepper spray.
According to a statement from AbbyPD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker, AbbyPD patrol officers attended a residence in the 33500 block of Westbury Avenue Monday evening just after 6:30 p.m. Police were there to arrest a 55-year-old man on an outstanding warrant for Fear of Harm to Partner/Child.
When officers made contact with the man, the individual became combative. Additional units responded code 3, with lights and sirens activated, at a high rate of speed, after on-scene officers requested assistance. A Fraser Valley Today reporter witnessed police accelerating at a very high rate of speed to get to the home as quickly as possible.
Sgt. Walker said the suspect continued to resist and fight with officers during the arrest. Pepper spray was deployed to gain compliance, and the individual was taken into custody without further incident.
