CHILLIWACK — Torrential downpours and relentless rain notwithstanding, the G.W. Graham varsity Grizzlies punched their ticket to the postseason with a decisive 42-7 win over the Langley Thunderbirds at home Friday night in Chilliwack.

With playoff implications on the line, the Grizzlies put on a show for their home fans by executing with precision and physicality, putting in one of their most complete performances of the season in all three phases of the game.

Offensively, the Grizzlies were unstoppable from the opening whistle. Running back Denver Adam amassed a whopping 211 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns. Adam also contributed through the air with 30 receiving yards and a third touchdown. Quarterbacks Lincoln Boyd and Rylan Parks split time behind center and were nearly flawless. Boyd finished 7-for-8 for 68 yards and two touchdowns, while Parks was 3-for-4 for 72 yards and two scores, illustrating the Grizzlies’ depth and efficiency at the quarterback position.

Ridley Mastin maintained his exceptional season with a star-studded performance. The senior wideout caught five receptions for 102 yards and three touchdowns, burning the Langley secondary with his speed and precision route running. With Mastin and Adam leading the charge, the Grizzlies’ offense proved too versatile and explosive for the Thunderbirds to contain.

Defensively, GW Graham was just as impressive. Mastin’s impact was felt on that side of the ball as well as he and safety Camden Kerr led the team with seven tackles each. Defensive end Quinton McMillan was a force down the trenches due to five tackles. The Grizzlies’ defense showcased its depth, with sixteen different players registering a tackle, including strong contributions from safety Denver Adam, linebacker Royce Maccormack, and defensive end Grayson Mouritzen. Langley struggled to move the ball all night, stymied by a fast, disciplined unit that swarmed to the ball.

Special teams also played a crucial role in the dominant win. Kicker Miller Cameron was perfect on the night, going 6-for-6 on PATs, while consistently pinning the Thunderbirds deep with his kickoffs. His accuracy and field control ensured that Langley faced long fields throughout the game, allowing the defense to maintain its aggressive posture.

Grizzlies head coach Mike Hayes praised his team’s effort and balance. “It was a statement win to wrap up the regular season,” said Hayes. “Mastin and Adam were dynamic as we have grown accustomed to, but this was a complete team effort across the board in all three phases.”

The Grizzlies now turn their focus to the playoffs, where they will face the New Westminster Hyacks next Friday night, Nov. 7 at Mercer Stadium in New West. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., as G.W. Graham looks to carry its momentum into a deep postseason run.
