UPDATE: One person hospitalized after crash on the Coquihalla Highway Thursday morning

UPDATE: Q101.ca (Merritt) is reporting that one person was taken to hospital by air ambulance in a stable condition after a crash on the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt.

BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) says it was called around 8:54 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 30) morning, to a vehicle incident in Brodie.

“Two ambulances with primary care paramedics and an air ambulance with critical care paramedics responded to the scene,” said Brian Twaites, a Public Information Officer with BCEHS.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient who was transported by air to the hospital in stable condition.”

At 9:51 a.m. Thursday, DriveBC reported that traffic on the Coquihalla was blocked in both directions between exits 238 and 250 as an air ambulance had landed on the highway. About an hour later – at 10:47 a.m. – it said traffic was flowing once again.

At this time, its not clear what caused the crash.

COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY — Details are limited at this point, but DriveBC reported in the past hour that traffic on the Coquihalla Highway was blocked in both directions due to an unspecified motor vehicle incident.

DriveBC reported at 9:51 a.m. Thursday morning that traffic was blocked in both directions of Highway 5 (Coq Highway) between exits 238 and 250 due to an air ambulance that landed on the highway.

DriveBC said the highway would reopen once the helicopter landed.

A Facebook user reported at 10:43 a.m. that traffic is starting to move again.

The PulsePoint app shows multiple ambulances were dispatched for a traffic incident that occurred at about 8:51 a.m.
